FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Longtime Democratic State Representative Win Moses lost his bid for re-election in the 81 st District Tuesday night.

Moses was challenged by Republican Martin Carbaugh after the district was redrawn following the 2010 Census.  The District was shifted north and southwest, excluding a large Democratic area of the former District, an area Moses counted on in previous elections.

The race between Moses and Carbaugh saw over $250,000 in outside spending, easily the most expensive contest of any race in northeast Indiana.

Carbaugh garnered 52 percent of the vote (11,656) to Moses' 44 percent (9,949). Libertarian candidate Alex Avery nabbed four-percent (932).

Moses, a former Fort Wayne Mayor, did not return calls to NewsChannel 15 seeking comment late Tuesday night.

Phil GiaQuinta, the second Democrat serving northeast Indiana as a part of the Indiana House, won re-election. He ran unopposed. Of the eight State Representative seats in northeast Indiana, seven are now controlled by Republicans.
