INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Mike Tyson has returned to Indianapolis. The last time the former heavyweight champion was in the Circle City, he was leaving jail after serving three years for rape.
Now, Tyson is back, making the rounds, promoting his one-man show "Mike Tyson, Undisputed Truth Tour." Tyson was at WANE's sister station WISH-TV on Tuesday to talk about his touring show on IndyStyle. But before he went into that interview, WISH Anchor David Barras interviewed him.
He told Barras that the decision to start his 10 week road tour in Indianapolis wasn't his own.
"They wanted me here. That's why I'm here," Tyson said.
But originally, Tyson was booked for two shows in Indianapolis. One of those was cancelled. His only show will be Wednesday night.
Tyson was convicted in February 1992 of raping Desiree Washington in July of 1991. Washington was a contestant in the Miss Black Expo contest in Indianapolis. Tyson told Barras he is different now than he was then. And, he says, his show will explain that.
"It's a roller coaster of emotions. It's going to be pretty provocative. Ambiguous. Sad. Happy. You know, ups and downs, like life," he says.
Tyson's show is Wednesday night.
