INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) - Randy Coffing of Lake Station, Ind. was looking for something to do while he filled up his truck at the gas station last Friday, so he purchased a few scratch-off tickets to pass the time. He won a few bucks and went back in to the station to cash them in. Clerk Nelda Clifft mentioned that the Muscle Car Money Scratch-off was new and selling well, so he tried one of those.
Thanks to the clerk's suggestion, Coffing is now driving a brand new 2011 muscle car of his choice!
According to the Hoosier Lottery, Coffing scratched his way into the driver's seat by revealing the car symbol on the $5 ticket he purchased at Luke's gas station, at 2178 Ripley Street in Lake Station.
With that, Coffing was assured his choice of one of three muscle cars - Chevrolet Camaro 2SS, a Ford Mustang GT or a Dodge Challenger R/T HEMI - or the cash equivalent.
"I'm taking the new Camaro!" exclaimed Coffing. "Everybody else was telling me to go for the Mustang, but I love the Chevy Camaro."
Coffing chose a cool navy blue with tinted windows. Hoosier Lottery Public Relations Manager Megan Wright delivered Coffing's Camaro to him Thursday at Luke's in Lake Station, where he purchased his lucky ticket.
Coffing immediately hopped in the car and revved the V8 engine. He was all smiles as he checked out the interior of his first brand new car.
"It feels great!" said Coffing. "It's wonderful!"
Coffing is the second player to win the car prize on the hot new game. The first winners, Tad and Harold Thompson of Greenwood opted to split the $53,000 cash value instead of sharing time in the car. Six car prizes remain unclaimed at this time.
Players may also enter their non-winning Muscle Car Money Scratch-offs into the second chance promotion through mylottery at hoosierlottery.com. Four second chance drawings offer players additional chances to instantly win a muscle car or cash prizes.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds players to always play responsibly, and to always sign the back of their tickets. Hoosier Lottery players have 180 days to claim prizes on Hoosier Lottery draw games.
As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from sales of Scratch-off tickets in Indiana is turned over to the state. Last year, the Hoosier Lottery transferred $190 million to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Indiana Fund which ultimately reduces Hoosiers' license plate costs.
