INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The two Republicans vying for Indiana's U.S. Senate seat have raised a combined $1.2 million in the final quarter of 2011 as they race toward the May primary.
U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar pulled in $762,000 from October through December. Tea Party-backed challenger Richard Mourdock raised $386,000 in the same period. Both campaigns disclosed their fundraising reports Monday.
Lugar is entering the final stretch of his toughest primary battle with a strong cash lead over Mourdock. Lugar has $4 million in the bank while Mourdock has $362,000. The two are battling for the Republican nomination in May's primary election.
Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly is running for the Democrats. Donnelly had not filed his fundraising report for the end of the year as of Monday afternoon.
