LaRouche PAC in Garrett to call for impeachment of President Obama

GARRETT, Ind. (WANE) -  Members of the LaRouche PAC set up outside the Garrett Post Office on Monday calling for the impeachment of President Obama.  The demonstration was part of a national campaign.

"We're everywhere," Bill Roberts, a LaRouche Democratic candidate for Michigan's 11th congressional district, said.  "We're on a national mobilization right now."

Viewers called Monday night to say they saw the same organization putting on demonstrations in Auburn and Waterloo also.

At the demonstration, the group had literature for people walking in and out of the post office and on the street.  Among its political posters, included a picture of President Obama with a mustache similar to that of Adolph Hitler.

LaRouche PAC workers at the demonstration were not allowed to be interviewed.  "[Obama's] going down," said one worker to a man listening to the group's message.  "You should sign up.  You should back us up."

"Obama is a Nero," the worker said to another man stopping by to listen.  Nero refers to the Roman Emperor who was in power when a fire destroyed Rome.  "He's a Hitler.  He's fiddling while Rome burns, so we've got to bring him down now."

Roberts told NewsChannel 15 the connection between Obama and Hitler started with Obama's healthcare policy.

The group accuses Obama of conspiring to commit mass murder, claiming Obama's health reform law will deny vital services to people who need them.

Garrett Mayor, Tonya Hoeffel said Monday that LaRouche PAC had contacted her office a few weeks ago.

"We explained that if they wanted to be on the public sidewalk," Hoeffel said, "without impeding any pedestrian traffic, we had no problem with that."

However, some people were still upset with the demonstration, specifically, how Obama was compared to Hitler.

"If the mustache wasn't on there, I probably wouldn't have made a big deal of this," Dan Endsley, who was upset about the posters, said.

"The connection of Obama is an honest assessment of what Obama's policies have been," Roberts said.

According to the organization's website, the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee supports several Congressional candidates around the country.  The following is the list of candidates, and the district they are trying to get elected in:

  • Kesha Rogers - 22nd congressional district of Texas
  • Diane Sare - 5th Congressional District of New Jersey
  • Rachel Brown - 4th Congressional District of Massachusetts
  • David Christie - 9th Congressional District of Washington
  • Bill Roberts - 11th Congressional District of Michigan.

All five candidates are Democrats.
