SHARPSVILLE, Ind. (WANE) - A Kokomo man was severely injured Monday morning after he failed to negotiate a curve on County Rd. 300 W. and drove into a ditch.
Police said Morris Calvert, 50, was driving his pickup truck westbound on County Rd. 500 N. when he drove off the north side of County Rd. 300 W. and into a ditch. His truck slammed into an earth embankment.
According to police, Calvert was airlifted by Lifeline Helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with severe internal injuries.
Calvert was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Police believe excessive speed contributed to the crash.
