Joe Donnelly sworn in as Indiana Senator

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WANE) - Democrat Joe Donnelly was sworn into office around noon Thursday in Washington, D.C.

Donnelly took Republican Richard Lugar's spot in the Senate.

Donnelly is a former United States Representative who defeated Richard Mourdock in November 2012, which makes him the first Democrat in that Senate seat since 1977.
