GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A Marion woman is behind bars after refusing to stop for a state trooper Thursday morning.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. in Gas City.
Police say 47-year-old Bernadette Fields was driving her minivan left of center and without headlights on.
Fields refused to stop for the trooper, turned around and ended up hitting the trooper's car before driving off again.
Fields then drove to Marion where she was finally stopped by local police.
She was arrested after trying to run on foot.
Fields was taken to the Grant Co. Jail on preliminary charges of Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a class “D” felony, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a class “A” misdemeanor, and criminal recklessness with a vehicle, a class “A” misdemeanor.
She is being held on no bond.
Fields was also driving with a suspended license.
Police say alcohol may have been involved.
