MIDDLEBURY, Ind. (AP) - A recreational vehicle company says it is increasing production and has recalled or hired more than 200 workers in northern Indiana.
Middlebury-based Jayco Inc. said Wednesday the additional work follows recent higher-than-anticipated orders that have led to its highest order backlog in more than two years.
Jayco president Derald Bontrager says the production increase was a sign that the RV industry has turned the corner.
Jayco is among several RV companies that laid off thousands of workers since early last year in Elkhart County, which had a 15 percent unemployment rate in September after peaking at 18.8 percent in March.
