The Indiana State Police issued the following press release Sunday:
A criminal investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Tony Frawley and Northern Community School Corporation Resource Officer Jack Horner identified a student who allegedly made a bomb threat. The 17-year-old male Tri-Central High School student purportedly wrote a message on a bathroom wall indicating that on March 11, 2009, the school was going to be blown up. The hand written message was discovered on March 2, 2009, by another student. The case has been forwarded to the Tipton County Prosecutor’s Office and the filing of charges is pending.
Prior to students arriving for class on March 11, several different police agencies searched the school grounds utilizing bomb detecting police dogs. Additionally, students had their back packs and book bags searched when they arrived for class. No contra band or explosives were found. The Indiana State Police and local law enforcement officers conducted extra patrols in the areas surrounding the school corporation. Classes were held without any problems.
This is an ongoing investigation. If anyone has information about this case they are asked to contact Detective Tony Frawley at 1-800-382-0689 or Community School Corporation Resource Officer Jack Horner at 765-963-2560.
Any questions about specific charges should be referred to the Tipton County Prosecutor’s Office.
