LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Police say a central Indiana man has died after falling from a moving go-kart and hitting his head.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department says 33-year-old Michael Shidler of Lafayette died late Sunday, two days after he fell onto the pavement in the parking lot of Wea Ridge Middle School near Lafayette.
He had been taken to a Lafayette hospital in critical condition after he was injured Friday night.
The Journal & Courier and WLFI-TV report the 28-year-old driver of the go-kart was arrested on preliminary charges of drunken driving.
Sheriff's Deputy Brian Lowe says Shidler and the go-kart driver had both been drinking alcohol before Shidler was injured.
