COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) -- The mother of the sole survivor among three Earlham College students hit by a train says he's recovering at home from his injuries.

Earlham senior Graham Nissen of Columbus was injured when he and two women were hit about 1:15 a.m. Nov. 9 near a group of nightclubs in Richmond . Therese Heymann of Burlingame, Calif., died at the scene and Lenore Edwards of St. Louis died Sunday .

Karen Nissen tells The Republic that her son "is on the road to recovery" after being hospitalized after being hit. She says all his injuries will heal with time and hard work. Nissen says her family was devastated by news of Edwards' death.

Richmond police say train personnel saw the students standing too close to the tracks just before they were hit.
