LAUREL, Ind. (AP) -- Conservation officers say an Ohio man died when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding apparently flipped over backward as he was climbing a southeastern Indiana hill.

Marc M. Boetger of Middletown, Ohio, was riding ATVs with friends Sunday afternoon when they found him unresponsive and pinned under the ATV he had been riding in northwest Franklin County about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said none of Boetger's friends saw what happened. But the statement says it appears Boetger was going uphill when the ATV flipped over backward, pinning him and inflicting head and neck injuries.

Friends told investigators Boetger had considerable experience operating ATVs. He was not wearing a helmet.
An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Monday in Hamilton, Ohio.
