INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (AP) - Indiana's preliminary seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for January 2010 did not change from the previous month.
In December 2009, the rate was 9.7 percent. The rate in January held steady at that percentage matching the national rate of 9.7 percent.
"Similar to the rest of the nation, Indiana isn't seeing much change right now," said Teresa Voors, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Voors says, "Indiana's unemployment rate appears to be holding relatively stable based on the slowing of job losses."
Indiana continues to report the lowest unemployment among its neighboring states.
Ohio's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 10.8 percent.
Illinois increased 0.3 percent to 11.3 percent while Kentucky increased 0.1 percent to 10.7 percent.
Michigan's unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percent to 14.3 percent.
Last July, Indiana hit a high of 10.6 percent.
