BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- - An Indiana University professor was fatally stabbed in his
Bloomington home and police have arrested a man on a preliminary
charge of murder.
Authorities did not immediately identify the 53-year-old man
who was found dead Monday morning.
English Department chairman Jonathan Elmer confirmed Tuesday
in an e-mail to The Associated Press that the victim was Don
Belton, an assistant professor of English at IU.
Michael J. Griffin, 25, of Bloomington was being held without
bond Tuesday in the Monroe County Jail. Police Lt. David Drake says
officers who searched Griffin's home found a knife believed to have
been used in the killing.
Drake says Griffin was acquainted with the victim, who was
stabbed several times.
