INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller held a news conference Tuesday to help AT & T kick off a national campaign to raise awareness of just how risky texting while driving is.

The company will roll out the campaign in the next few weeks.

The ads will be in print as well as on television and other electronic media and will feature true stories, including final text messages sent or received before someone was hurt or killed.

"These have been supplied to us by their surviving kin. And we think it's pretty stark but we think that's the way to get the message across," said AT & T Indiana President George Fleetwood.

Fort Wayne state Senator Tom Wyss, a longtime leading advocate of safe driving in the state legislature, was also on hand to applaud AT & T's new campaign.

In Indiana, it is against the law for people 18 and younger to text while they drive. Efforts to totally ban texting while driving failed in the General Assembly this year.
