NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say a 100-pound man escaped from an eastern Indiana jail by climbing through a hole in its roof.
The Henry County Sheriff's Department says a guard noticed that 29-year-old David Kline was missing from his cell Monday morning and that the hole was found in a nearby cell.
Kline was jailed after failing to appear in court Oct. 2 for a hearing on his agreement to plead guilty to charges of illegal firearms possession by a violent felon and intimidation.
The Courier-Times reports that guards at the jail in New Castle stopped an escape attempt in August when inmates pulled back a steel sheet lining the ceiling and used a piece of metal to chip away at the concrete ceiling.
