FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Major construction started this week at the Rave movie theater at Jefferson Pointe. That's where crews are installing Fort Wayne’s first state-of-the-art IMAX screen.
The screen conversion at Jefferson Pointe is one of 14 that Rave Motion Pictures is undertaking across the country.
“We're taking one of our largest auditoriums and we are changing it physically to make it really create an IMAX branded experience which is very immersive,” said Jeremy Devine, Rave Motion Picture’s vice president of marketing.
The IMAX screen will start at the floor and rise 34 feet to the ceiling, curving around the audience.
Seats are being torn out to give people more room and a new sound system and two special IMAX projectors are being installed.
The new theater will have about 335 seats available and is scheduled to open March 11, 2011.
IMAX ticket prices have not been revealed.
