UNDATED (AP) - Torres Hillsdale Country Cheese is expanding the recall of
Asadero and Oaxaca soft Mexican-style cheeses to include more
states, including Indiana.
The food might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria is a microorganism that can cause serious or fatal
infections in children, the elderly or those with weakened immune
systems.
No illnesses have been reported.
The recall now affects Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Georgia,
Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio,
Wisconsin, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Alabama.
The recalled cheeses were distributed in 10-pound balls and
16- and 12-ounce plastic packages sold under the name "Aguas
Calientes."
Also recalled were 6-pound blocks shrink-wrapped in clear
plastic under the name "El Jaliciense."
