FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Despite humid weather and the threat of rain, supporters came out to support the troops, and nearly $2,000 was raised on the first day of the Garage Sale for the Troops.
Saturday was the first day of the second annual sale and Alison Mansfield, founder of Operation Socks for Our Troops and Operation U.S. Troop Support said the $2,000 day was a huge success.
The sale continues Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and all items originally priced under $20.00 will be half price. All proceeds from the sale will be used to directly benefit U.S. troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and injured soldiers recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Items not sold during the sale will be donated to Salvation Army, Goodwill, and other charities.
To support the sale visit 7136 Pine Lake Road, in Fort Wayne.
