FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The upcoming 2012-2013 school year is fast approaching and for one area charter school, its first year.
The Smith Academy for Excellence, SAFE, will begin as one of Indiana's first all boys charter schools.
On Sunday, SAFE announced the location for it's first year in operation. Classes will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church at 729 West Washington Boulevard in Fort Wayne, according to a release by the school.
The academy will serve grades 6 through 9 and will focus on college preparation, character education, and service learning, according to a press release.
The first day of school is scheduled for Aug. 13.
