FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Fourth to Sixth grade students at Towles Montessori Intermediate School held a special event on Wednesday to learn about and help refugees in Africa.
The students met with Justin Ralston, the founder of "Refugees Read". Ralston spoke with students about the refugees and students then sat in on a teleconference with people in Africa involved in the program.
The program supports and promotes the education and literacy of refugees in Africa.
During the week of Nov. 26-30, Towles will have spirit days to raise money for Refugees Read.
About "Refugees Read"
Refugees Read supports and promotes the education and literacy of refugees in Africa. The organization has collected thousands of books to send to refugees. The mission of Refugees Read is to empower refugees, displaced, and hosting communities around the world through promoting literacy and education.
