The Purdue University Board of Trustees will name a successor to IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell at 10:30 am Tuesday. Wartell will retire at the end of June because of a mandatory age 65 retirement policy maintained by Purdue.
Wartell became chancellor of IPFW in 1994. During his tenure the university has seen tremendous growth, including the addition of student housing and a move to NCAA Division One athletics.
Faculty members tried to extend Wartell's tenure by two years, but the Purdue trustees refused to make an exception to the mandatory retirement age.
The new chancellor will be introduced in the International Ballroom of the Walb Student Union. A live stream of the event will take place on www.ipfw.edu/ipfw .
