FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Disney Store will not be renewing its lease at Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne.
Public Relations manager for the Disney Store of North America, Shawn Turner, confirmed the closing of the Fort Wayne store and another at the Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana and issued the following statement about the closings:
"As we strategically balance our retail portfolio and prepare to launch newly designed Disney Stores across the US and Europe, we continue to consider opportunities to maximize the distribution of our current store locations and strengthen our position in today’s retail environment.
Although we have decided not to renew leases at some of our current locations, we are looking forward to having a presence in new markets as we roll out the new store design over the next five years. We are making every effort to place impacted Disney Store cast members in other locations, and are offering affected guests referrals to nearby stores or the opportunity to visit DisneyStore.com which is available 24 hours a day.
We are keenly focused on reinvigorating Disney Stores Worldwide as a unique, interactive, and immersive shopping experience, and this is one step in our long term plan for future growth."
Details about when the store will close are not clear at this time. This story will be updated.
