INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) - Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is "optimistic" about state lawmakers passing prison sentencing reform in 2012, he told NewsChannel 15 this month in a year-end interview.

The governor lobbied for legislation last year that was aimed at making sure the most serious offenders remain locked up under the tightest security while providing more moderate sentencing for lesser crimes. Daniels also said the plan would save the state money. Lawmakers rejected it.
