Mentone Police Department arrested Scott Blevins at his home Thursday on a warrant for child molesting after a two month investigation.
Blevins then assisted officers in buying 1.5 ounces of marijuana from Mathew Haag at his apartment. Officers found a quarter pound of marijuana in Haag’s apartment after he was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana.
Officers then set up a buy in a parking lot near Buffalo Street and Winona Ave later in the evening involving Sarah Hein, Nicky Blair and Blevins.
Hein and Blair fled the parking lot, throwing a one pound bag of marijuana out of their vehicle during a short pursuit in Warsaw.
Warsaw, Mentone and Kosciusko County officers stopped Hein’s vehicle near Buffalo and Fort Wayne Streets in Warsaw and found four children inside the vehicle.
Hein and Blair were arrested for neglect of a dependent, and Hein was preliminarily charged with dealing marijuana.
As officers were awaiting Child Protective Services to arrive, John Young, also associated with Hein and Blair, approached officers about an outstanding warrant for Young’s arrest out of Grant County.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert and Mentone Town Marshal Jim Eads commended the joint effort of all officers from their departments along with members of the Warsaw Police Department and the Drug Task Force unit.
