Man stabs self while getting arrested

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - According to the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, a 36-year-old man used a knife to stab himself while being placed into custody on two outstanding warrants Thursday night.

Around 7:30 p.m., Ted Michael Ricketts Sr.,36, stabbed himself in his left abdomen area while being placed into custody on two outstanding warrants on Failure to Appear on Child Support Summons and Revocation of Probation for being arrested on an Operating While Intoxicated charge.

Deputies Jeff Clark and Ben Duecker were attempting to serve the warrants at 1280 Main Street, Lagro, Indiana, when Ricketts stabbed himself.

Ricketts is in stable condition at Lutheran Hospital and will be remanded to the Wabash County Jail upon his release.
