FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police thought it would be just be a matter of time before they identified a bank robbery suspect and they were right.
They are now looking for 37-year old Tyrone E. Phinezy of Fort Wayne. Phinezy was identified from bank surveillance photos.
According to police, at around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a man walked into the National City Bank on Maplecrest Rd. and gave the teller a note saying he was armed. Police now believe that man was Phinezy.
The man demanded money, which the teller gave him before he ran west toward a nearby RediMed. That's where a K-9 unit lost track of his scent. "He was probably picked up, or had a vehicle at his disposal," said Joyner.
Because the robber was unmasked, police spokesman Michael Joyner believed it would be just a matter of time before someone identified him.
Anyone who knows where Phinezy might be should call police at 422-1222 or they can also call CrimeStoppers at 436-STOP.
