FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left one woman in serious condition.

Around 3:55 Saturday morning officers were called out to the Marathon gas station in the 3500 block of Wayne Trace on a report of a shooting.  When officers arrived they found one woman who'd been shot in the side.  Paramedics took the woman to the hospital in serious condition.

Police on scene told NewsChannel 15 that there was some kind of shootout and the woman was shot in the side.  Investigators don't know if the woman was involved in the shooting or just a bystander caught in the cross fire.

The only description police got of a suspect was the type of vehicle they were driving.  It's described as a dark colored Chevrolet Caprice.

If you have any information you're asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department.
