LIGONIER, Ind. (WANE) - Police were called to a home at the 200 block of East Union Street in Ligonier on a battery complaint Monday night.

Police said when they arrived at the scene, they were told that a female was hit several times by her boyfriend, Michael Strammer, 50, of Ligonier. Police were also told the woman was dragged into the home by Strammer.

Officers tried to knock on the door and use a PA system to get Strammer and the woman out of the home but Strammer would not come out.

A crisis negotiator then called Strammer and after several minutes, Strammer allowed the woman to leave the home.

Police said Strammer came out of the home a short time later and was taken into custody.

Strammer was jailed on a preliminary charge of Domestic Battery and Resisting Law Enforcement.

Police said there were no reported injuries.
