WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) - Police in Warsaw are investigating a possible drug transaction that led to a police pursuit and a passenger being ejected from the suspect's vehicle.
According to a release, Warsaw police attempted to stop a black Lexus around 9:18 Monday night. The driver of the car, Brandon Adkins, 27, possibly of Warsaw, is wanted by police.
Officers attempted to stop Adkins' vehicle north of town on State Road 15 when Adkins continued north at a high rate of speed. The report said speeds topped 140 miles-per-hour.
The report said as the pursuit headed out of Leesburg, the occupants of the vehicle began throwing items out of the windows. As the vehicle approached Milford, Adkins turned west onto County Road 1000 North and a passenger was thrown from the car. Then, Adkins turned south on Pinkerton Road.
Officers ended the pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle.
The ejected passenger, who has not been identified, was semi-conscious when found. The passenger was transported by air ambulance to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition, according to the report.
The passenger told police at the scene a drug transaction took place in the vehicle when Adkins spotted police, threatened to kill him, showed a handgun, and took off.
Police are looking for Adkins. His vehicle is described as a black Lexus passenger car with a temporary Indiana plate of C999867.
Police said the vehicle may have damage to the passenger side rear quarter panel or bumper.
The report said a female passenger was also in the car and is not being identified due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and the threats made by Adkins.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Warsaw Police Investigation Division at (574) 372-9540.
