FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) NewsChannel 15 reporter Megan Reust was pulled over early on the morning of March 17, 2013 by Fort Wayne police after an officer spotted her driving over the speed limit on Hadley Road near Pointe Inverness apartments.
According to the police report, the traffic stop took place at about 2:30 am. Reust had been clocked going 57 miles an hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.
The officer suspected that Reust had been drinking and she was given a breathalyzer test that registered .09 percent. A second breathalyzer test given later that morning also registered .09 percent which is above Indiana's legal limit of .08 percent. She was booked on misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and speeding.
During a hearing on Thursday afternoon, a judge agreed to drop the OWI and speeding charges in exchange for a plea of reckless driving.
WANE does not comment on personnel matters.
Reust issued the following apology on Thursday:
I take responsibility for my actions that led to being pulled over and blowing a .09 in the early morning hours on Sunday, March 17th. I'm just as disappointed in myself as many of you probably are with me. It's a mistake that I've learned from and one I will never make again. These actions are certainly not within my moral compass or character. I hope you, the viewer, understands it was a mistake I've learned from. Join me in moving forward in a positive direction.
