VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) - The Van Wert Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a local pizza shop Wednesday evening.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to Klosterman's Pizza in the 1000 block of East Main Street after an employee contacted police, according to a police report.

The employee told officers a man entered the store with a bandana covering the lower part of his face. The employee told police the man pointed a gun at him and demanded cash from the register, according to the report.

The suspect reached into the register and took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the property, according to the report.

During the investigation, officers located evidence related to the robbery and were able to identify a suspect.

Police subsequently arrested Kyle W. Caldwell, 33, Van Wert, who is currently in the Van Wert County Jail.

He is awaiting an initial court appearance. The report said additional charges are pending.
