MILFORD, Ind. (WANE) A 15-year-old boy is being held in a juvenile detention center after police say he rammed an ATV with a Bobcat skid loader before hitting two squad cars with it.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, police were called to a home located at County Road 250 West and County Road 900 north at around 8:40 pm Saturday after getting a report of juvenile out of control. When officers arrived at the home, the parents of the boy told them that their son had just left the residence on the skid loader with a baseball bat and machete and was driving it across a field. They told officers that earlier in the evening the boy had gotten so upset that he had locked his mom out of the house before he took off on the skid loader.
The father of the boy allowed officers to use an ATV to go after him, but when two officers approached the boy, he turned the skid loader around and rammed the ATV, leaving it inoperable.
The boy then backed out of the field and went towards two marked squad cars on County Road 300 West. He spun the skid loader around, striking a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department squad car and Milford Police Department squad car.
It took officers about an hour to finally get the boy to surrender to them. He finally did so after being pepper sprayed.
He was taken to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center where he could face juvenile charges of aggravated battery with substantial risk of death or injury. The boy made his initial appearance on Monday and will be held at the facility until his next juvenile dispositional hearing scheduled for December 27, 2012.
