LAGRANGE CO., Ind. (WANE) Indiana conservation officers are investigating a report of illegal deer hunting involving a 15-year-old boy.
According to the DNR, a concerned hunter reported that he saw another hunter shoot a deer with a gun and then drag it behind a home on County Road 1100 East.
A 15-year-old boy at the home admitted that he shot the deer with a muzzleloader, didn't fill out a temporary transportation tag, and also shot 2 antlerless deer during the special youth season and didn't deliver those deer to a state deer check station or check the deer in online within 48 hours of time of kill.
The teen’s muzzleloader and deer, a very small antlerless deer was seized as evidence.
The deer was then donated to the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry Program. The charges will be forwarded to LaGrange County Juvenile Probation.
Indiana's deer firearms season starts November 17 and runs through December 2. Muzzleloader season starts December 8 and runs through December 23, with a special antlerless season starting December 26 and ending January 6.
