Suspected driver in hit and run turns himself in

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) According to a press release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, the suspect in Sunday's hit and run which critically injured a toddler has come forward.

Michael T. Harris, 38, of Fort Wayne, is accused of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury and driving while suspended.

Jaime Saldana, 3, was hit by a van around 5 p.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of Oliver Street.

Officers said the three-year-old boy went to a hospital in critical condition. Saldana's condition improved by Monday afternoon, at which time the three-year-old was in serious condition and stable.

This incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T. and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
