KOKOMO, Ind. (WANE) - Police in Kokomo have arrested a man thought to be involved in four shootings at four different locations within two days. One person was killed.
Officers said they were called to a home in the area of Apperson and Taylor Streets a little after 11:30 Thursday morning to investigate a possible battery. When they got there, they found Argena Williams, 48, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
About ten minutes after that, police said they got a 911 call about a possible shooting victim at a home in the 400 block of North Purdum. A woman identified as Miriam Mallory, 40, also suffered a gunshot wound to her head. Medics took her to the hospital. There is no report on her condition as of Thursday night.
At 1:10 p.m. officers responded to the 600 block of East Taylor where they located another man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Ricky Patterson, 51, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to police, witnesses saw a possible suspect in the Patterson shooting run from that location. Officers secured a four block area to look him.
While canvassing the neighborhood, police said they located a man who matched witnesses' description. He was taken into custody for questioning and was later arrested and charged with one count of Murder and three counts of Attempted Murder.
The suspect has been identified as Turama Stitts, 36, of Kokomo. Investigators believe he acted alone in the three shootings Thursday and a shooting that took place Wednesday involving 64-year-old David Gibson.
Stitts was taken to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.
