NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - Police said the fourth and final suspect in the armed robbery at Shooters gun store was taken into custody Wednesday evening after turning himself in.
Police said Brenton Ennis, 18, was the driver of the vehicle. He faces charges of robbery and resisting law enforcement.
Orlando Paschall, Craig Whigum and a 15-year-old have already been arrested in connection with the robbery.
Police said all of the guns taken in the robbery except for one have been recovered.
According to New Haven Police, around 11:15 on Tuesday, two of the men armed with handguns entered Shooters, at 660 Lincoln Highway in New Haven while the other two waited in a car outside the store.
New Haven Police said the owner was ordered to the ground and was kicked in the ribs. A male customer was pistol-whipped. He was taken to a hospital in fair condition and will be kept overnight.
The men stole several guns and let off one shot from their handguns from the door into the store.
New Haven police said it isn't something they're used to seeing.
"In this manner, we haven't had anything like that out here," said Scott Adam with the New Haven Police Department. "He [the owner] has been burglarized a couple times during late night hours over the years, but never a robbery where there have been shots fired."
The suspects fled the store in a dark blue Impala. New Haven Police aired the description of the car and Allen County Police saw it in Fort Wayne and attempted a traffic stop.
An ensuing police chase ended in a crash near the intersection of Anthony Blvd. and McKinnie Ave. in Fort Wayne.
Two of the suspects were caught immediately following the crash. The two other suspects tried to run away. One was caught but police were still looking for the remaining suspect.
Schools near the area of the crash where the suspect fled were put on lockdown after the crash. The official lockdowns were lifted around 1:30 p.m. but FWCS officials said students would not be going outside for recess and there would be additional adults present during dismissal.
The schools on lockdown were: Abbett Elementary, Weisser Park Elementary School, Ward Education Center, Whitney Young Early Childhood Center, Irwin Elementary, Towles Intermediate School, and Scott Academy.
