ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) - A man from Angola is accused of kidnapping and raping a girl from New York: in fact, he faces federal charges now.
According to our partners in news at the Herald Republican, Foster Creager is behind bars without bail in New York.
According to United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, Foster Creager, 41, of Angola, Indiana, was arrested January 25, 2009 for transporting a 15-year-old girl from Hyde Park, New York, to Angola, Indiana, for purposes of engaging in sexual activity.
According to Federal Bureau of Investigation in New York, the Complaint filed on January 21, 2010, in White Plains federal court said a 15-year-old girl was discovered missing on September 10, 2009. Hyde Park Police and the New York State Police found that the victim had been corresponding via e-mail with an individual using the name “Kenneth Bone.” The subscriber of the cellular phone used by “Kenneth Bone” was “Foster Creager,” with an address in Angola, Indiana.
The FBI said the victim was found in a trailer and recreational vehicle park in Angola, Indiana, with Creager. When interviewed, Creager said, among other things, that he had picked the victim up in New York the previous day and drove her to Indiana.
Creager also said that he met the victim two or three months ago on the Internet and said they were boyfriend and girlfriend.
On September 11, 2009, the victim was examined at a hospital. Forensic results revealed that the specimens recovered from the victim contained DNA that matched Creager's.
If convicted, Creager faces a mandatory minimum term of 10 years’ imprisonment and a maximum term of life imprisonment.
He's scheduled to appear before a federal judge early next week.
