FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo at 3902 block of S. Clinton at about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators said a black man entered the bank and demanded cash with a knife.
He left out the bank's side door with an undisclosed amount of cash. Investigators said he went southwest towards a McDonalds.
Police attempted to track the suspect with a K9 but were unsuccessful. Crime scene remained on the scene for several hours processing for potential evidence. The Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force was interviewing witnesses and bank employees as well.
Several customers were inside the bank during the robbery but no one was reported injured.
Police released pictures of the suspect and said he was holding a cane during the robbery that may have been a prop. He also has a pink discoloration on his lip. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap slightly tinted glasses and a dark colored hoodie.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at 260 436-STOP (7867). A cash reward is possible for information received
This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force. This task force is composed of investigators with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
