FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A man who was shot early Saturday morning after he answered a knock on the door of a Bowser Avenue home remains in critical condition. Monday morning Fort Wayne police identified the victim as Jordan D. Williams, 21, of Fort Wayne.
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4500 block of Bowser Avenue around 4:00 a.m. Saturday after multiple people called police after hearing gunfire.
Officers found Williams suffering from gunshot wounds inside of the residence. Other people were also inside of the home at the time of the shooting, but those people were not injured.
Police said Williams was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
According to police, a male suspect knocked on the door of the home and asked for someone inside. Williams was shot when he answered the door.
Police said they believe there was more than one shooter, based on evidence found at the scene.
A FWPD spokesperson said a gold SUV was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting.
Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
