DECATUR, Ind. (WANE) - The Adams County Sheriff's Department is looking for a wanted man after the home they searched Sunday night turned up empty.
Indiana State Police said the house in the 1200-block of Master Drive in Decatur where officers had been for several hours did not turn up the man they were looking for. Officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant and now they are asking for the public's help to find the man.
According to Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg, the department got a tip around 5 p.m. Sunday that Wade Richard Crone, 26, was in a home in the 1200-block of Master Drive. Crone is wanted for one count of Criminal Confinement, which is a Class D felony.
Rekeweg said officers got a search warrant for the house in question. Police said it is believed that Crone has several handguns and is a threat to both the public and law enforcement officers. That's why the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in to help serve the search warrant.
Between 8 and 9 p.m., ERT members went into the house, but did not find anyone inside, according to a media release from the Indiana State Police.
NewsChannel 15 had been in contact with police dispatchers and other officers starting around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, but no information was released until 12:15 a.m. Monday.
Crone is described as 5'10" and around 170 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on the left side of his neck.
Sheriff Rekeweg is asking anyone with any information about where Crone is to call the Adams County Sheriff Department at (260) 724-5345 or Adams County Crime Stoppers at (260) 692-2882.
