FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - No arrest has been made in the Wednesday morning robbery of the PNC Bank at 5610 Coventry Lane.
According to Fort Wayne police, a man entered the bank around 9:40 a.m. The suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
There were no customers inside the bank but there were several bank employees; no injuries were reported.
Witnesses told police the suspect fled the scene west, into a residential area behind the bank.
A K-9 unit tracked a strong trail to the 5100 block of Coventry Lane but the trail ended abruptly. That led officers to believe the suspect had a form of transportation waiting for him at that location.
The suspect is described as white man, 30 to 40 years old, about 200 to 250 pounds. He was described as having light facial hair with a red tint to it.
He was last seen wearing a striped hat, ski goggles with gold tint, something around his neck, (possibly a scarf), a black puffy coat, and black "swishy" pants with a white stripe along each pant leg.
Haverhill Elementary School was on lockdown for a short time following the robbery.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 260 436-STOP (7867). A cash reward is possible for information received.
