FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the Chase Bank on Lower Huntington Road.
Police say just after 8 a.m. on Friday, two men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, dark jeans and black masks approached employees as they were arriving for work.
The men, armed with guns, forced the employees inside the bank. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash in an unknown direction.
One of the suspects pistol whipped a male employee. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
There were no customers during the robbery as the bank had not yet opened.
As a result of the robbery, Waynedale and Maplewood Elementary Schools were placed on lockdown for a couple of hours while police searched the area for the possible suspects.
Another Fort Wayne financial institution was robbed in a similar fashion just a day earlier; Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information on the Midwest America Federal Credit Union armed robbery.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department's Bank Robbery Task Force and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
