GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A pathologist has determined that the woman who police believe was killed during a robbery at her home in Gas City, died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Indiana State Police arrested Tyrell Lenoir, 23, and Matthew Tyra, 17, early Sunday morning in connection to the death of Ashley Rheam, 29.
Both are in jail facing charges of murder and robbery.
Police say around 5:40 a.m. Rheam called Gas City police reporting that her home at 107 E. North A Street had been burglarized. She told police some electronic items were missing and the rear door of her home had allegedly been kicked in. Police arrived at her home to take a report and cleared the house. They did not find any suspects.
About five hours later around 10:40 a.m., Rheam’s roommate came home and found her body.
As detectives investigated the homicide they learned that a white 1993 white Cadillac Eldorado was stolen from the home. The Eldorado was located later in the evening abandoned on the northeast side of Marion.
As police continue this investigation, anyone with information about this case is asked call Indiana State Police detectives at (800) 382-0689 or (765) 473-6666. People can also give tips to the Gas City Police Department by calling (765) 674-2278.
