FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police said shots were fired at the Sunoco gas station on Coldwater Road around 4:00 a.m. Saturday.
A clerk at the gas station told police the people involved took off in a dark colored SUV. Police said the clerk was able to give officers a good description of the vehicle.
According to police, officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to perform a routine traffic stop, but the suspects would not pull over. The suspects then led them on a pursuit that ended on Brown Street, southwest of downtown Fort Wayne. Police said the SUV crashed into another car.
The suspects then fled on foot and broke into a neighboring home on the block.
"When they forced entry into the home, they set off her alarm system and woke her up as the officers were in the area looking for the suspects," said Sgt. Mark Brooks of the Fort Wayne Police Department. "She realized the suspects were in her house and notified the police."
Two suspects were arrested in relation to the police pursuit.
As of right now, police are treating the shooting on McDonald Street, which happened around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, and this incident as separate crimes.
