Police: Body found in Michigan is missing LaGrange Co. woman

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police have identified a body in Michigan as Catherine A. Sackrider, a LaGrange County woman who had been reported missing in September.

Police suspect foul play.

Friday, a farmer in southeastern Michigan discovered a body in a field near an unused barn and alerted police. At that time, police could not identify the body because of partial decomposition. Tuesday, d ental records confirmed the body as Sackrider's, according to release from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office in Michigan.

Sackrider, 58, was reported missing by her family on Sept. 24 after she failed to return from her daughter's home near Toledo, Ohio, in Sylvania Township. Her pickup truck was found the following day outside Toledo.

Her family said she had left the Toledo area on Sept. 18 around 7 p.m. and was possibly driving to her lake house in the Wall Lake area of LaGrange County.

Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh told various media outlets in Michigan and Toledo that foul play is suspected because of evidence found near the body. He has not released any further details.

An autopsy was inconclusive on a cause of death and authorities do not know if her death occurred in the field where her body was found.

The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office (MI), the Sylvania Township Police Department (OH), and the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department continue to investigate.
