Pair sentenced over cat damages

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) -- A man and woman say they're sorry for allowing dozens of cats to get out of control and overrun two houses they rented in Fort Wayne, leading to thousands of dollars in damage.
An Allen County judge on Monday sentenced 50-year-old Constance Anderson and 45-year-old Jeffrey Tourney to 18 months in prison on felony charges of criminal mischief.
The Journal Gazette reports (http://bitly.com/PiZeeo ) that while Anderson and Tourney apologized, Prosecutor Karen Richards pointed out animal care workers had to euthanize nearly 100 ill cats that couldn't be adopted.
Officials say the houses were filled with cat feces and urine and one was condemned.
The judge ordered Anderson and Tourney to pay nearly $50,000 in restitution to the house owners and city agencies.
