VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) - A man has confessed to stabbing his brother early Wednesday morning according to police.
It happened at 2:32 a.m. in an alley off West Main Street in Van Wert.
Police said they received a call from Caleb Mech, 26, who reported his brother was stabbed near C.J.'s Sidepockets.
Investigators learned from employees of the bar that the brothers had spent time there earlier. They were said to be getting along well while inside. The men got into an argument over something unknown before the stabbing happened outside.
The Van Wert EMS responded to the scene with the police and provided emergency services to Issac Mech, 22, who was suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his neck.
Officials said Issac Mech was initially taken to the Van Wert County hospital, but later had to be flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was listed in critical condition.
The Van Wert Detective Bureau interviewed Caleb Mech and he confessed to the incident.
Caleb Mech was charged with Felonious Assault, which is a felony of the second degree. He had been charged previously for domestic violence for an unrelated case that is still working through municipal court.
