NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. (WANE) An off-duty police officer is being credited with helping to catch three people accused of breaking into at least 15 vehicles Wednesday night in Kosciusko County.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, the off-duty North Webster officer saw the three suspects breaking into a car at around 3:37 am. He chased the suspects and managed to catch one of them.
Sheriff's deputies arrived shortly afterwards and were able to catch to other two suspects.
Detectives have arrested Michael Alan Rockey, 18, Cromwell, and Ryan D. Silliman, 19, North Webster, and preliminarily charged both with felony theft. They are currently being held on individual $2,000 bonds. The 14- year-old juvenile taken into custody due to his involvement was transported to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Center for detainment. His information has been forwarded to the Kosciusko County Probation Department.
Sheriff’s detectives stated that it appears that approximately 15-20 vehicles had been entered into overnight in the same general area which is located on the south side of Webster Lake. Officers also have confirmed that at least 10 of the vehicles had items taken from inside the vehicles which vary from cellular phones, GPS electronic devices, and power tools. Detectives stated that the investigation is still on going at this time.
